A little video for the silent queen of comedy, Miss Mabel Normand. Miss Normand is best known for being a frequent leading lady of Charlie Chaplin and Roscoe Arbuckle, two of the finest comedians of all time. She did some films for Biograph Pictures in the 1910's, a studio where many other silent film stars worked, including Mary Pickford and Lillian and Dorothy Gish. She also briefly had her own studio, Mabel Normand Productions. Mabel is also often credited as being the first person on film to throw a pie in somebody's face (the victim being Roscoe Arbuckle). But despite her successful career, she suffered from many private troubles. She had alcohol troubles, used cocaine, and often went to wild, all-night parties. On February 22, 1930, after being admitted to a sanitarium, Mabel Normand died from tuberculosis at the age of 34. Music: "Stormy Weather" performed by Michael Crawford Enjoy!
