I must mention I am fully aware Ralph Vaughan Williams stated this work was not about "lambkins frisking about" nor pastoral scenery per se. But rather, it (A Pastoral Symphony) refers to the World War I fields of france in the sense of an elegy for those who died. That said, the work for me, is more a meditation on the qualities of peace. This video is humbly offered as a wreath of flowers for those who died and a vista of a world in peace. One must mention this movement is so reminiscent of the harmonies of Ravel with whom RVW studied.
